New year, new you. We often hear ideas about creating new goals and resolving to find new parts of ourselves at this time of the year, when the days are beginning to lengthen and winter is coldly taking its hold. I’ve never been one for resolutions or annual goals with the new year, probably for the same reason I’ve always marched to the tune of my own ukulele. Personal growth is something that shouldn’t have a season, but that we should be conscious of throughout the year. However, the winter months do lend themselves to long hours away from the sun, trapped indoors due to the inclement weather that, in the South, just translates to the cold, wet, and rainy season. In the coming weeks and months, as we move from the typhoons in our lagoon into the steamy summer nights that only Alabama can provide, we’re going to journey through my adventures in finding the important things in life, remembering that “me” time is more important than work time, and focusing on the moments that matter most. I hope you’ll join me on this 30-something adventure on the road we call life. Until then, grab a cup of tea, curl up with a good book, and stay toasty my friends.
